These papers consist primarily of newspaper clippings and photocopies of clippings, magazine articles, correspondence, and reports regarding New England fisheries and the history of New England fishing, plus notes on the subject generated by Garland for an unpublished book project. Topics include aquaculture; codfish, haddock, hake, halibut, herring, mackerel, menhaden, and swordfish; fisheries in Canada; marine pollution and its effects on fish; fishery management; and the effects of overfishing. Correspondence includes letters from the Commercial Anglers Association and the New England Fishery Management Council.
